Lysander

My grandfather was ground crew for this aircraft during the war. 16 squadron based at Old Sarum then various places in France after invasion. He tried not to for too close bonds with the pilots as many were lost in their daring missions. It greatly affected him. I remember when I was a lad him buying me a plastic model kit to build. I recently rebuilt a kit of a Lysander from his squadron whilst at Old Sarum. He passed on a few years ago but I always feel proud of what he did to protect this country and liberate Europe.
