I've started reading Geoffrey Bennett's book Cowan's War, about the Royal Navy in the Baltic after the First World War. The above quote opens the book.

Bennett may have been writing in 1964, but a lot of it feels relevant today.

I’ll be off line for a couple of days, enjoying the rather limited Christmas celebration the rules allow, so wanted to take this opportunity to wish all watchers and friends a happy and safe Christmas.
